It must therefore be melted to be used (injection into manufacturing molds, blowing, extrusion, etc.).<\/p>\n<p>As it cools, it hardens naturally, and can be reused this way many times. Polypropylene is commonly used, including in packaging, carpets, textiles, medical instruments, automobile parts and electrical equipment.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400; color: #7cc68d;\">What is polypropylene?<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>The main difference between polypropylene (PP) and <a href=\"https:\/\/capeco-recycling.com\/en\/how-to-recycle-polyethylene-pe\/\">polyethylene<\/a> (PE) is their molecular structure. It is also used for non-food packaging, such as boxes, trays and cartons.<\/li>\n<li>Automotive: interior and exterior parts, such as dashboards, bumpers, door panels, radiators and tanks.<\/li>\n<li>Textile: fibers and fabrics, which are used in clothing, rugs and outdoor furniture.<\/li>\n<li>Construction: pipes, cables, insulating panels, floor coverings and roofing membranes.<\/li>\n<li>Medical: syringes, vials, surgical instruments, infusion bags and Petri dishes.<\/li>\n<li>Household appliances: lids, boxes, laundry baskets and towel racks.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][\/et_pb_column][\/et_pb_row][et_pb_row _builder_version=&#8221;4.16&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; custom_padding=&#8221;7px|||||&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;][et_pb_column type=&#8221;4_4&#8243; _builder_version=&#8221;4.16&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;][et_pb_text _builder_version=&#8221;4.16&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p>These sectors are not exhaustive, as PP is also used in many other areas, including toys, sports equipment, gardening products.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400; color: #7cc68d;\">The polypropylene recycling process<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>The polypropylene recycling process is complex and requires a certain number of machines and technical skills. It differs from recycling other plastics, such as PET, because it generally has a higher melting temperature.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400; color: #7cc68d;\">Grinding<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>In the first step of the PP recycling process, plastic waste, such as packaging, bottles, bags or PP objects are <a href=\"https:\/\/capeco-recycling.com\/en\/collection-and-purchase-of-plastic-materials\/\">collected<\/a> and sorted according to their type and quality.<\/p>\n<p>The PP plastics are then taken to a <a href=\"https:\/\/capeco-recycling.com\/en\/\">recycling plant<\/a> where they are cleaned and crushed into small pieces. Grinding makes it possible to reduce the dimensions of PP waste to facilitate their handling and subsequent processing.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400; color: #7cc68d;\">Separation<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Plastics are separated based on their density and composition using different technologies, such as flotation, centrifugation or optical sorting. This step separates the different types of plastic and purifies them.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400; color: #7cc68d;\">Extrusion \/ Regeneration<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Once the PP waste is crushed, it is transformed into <a href=\"https:\/\/capeco-recycling.com\/en\/all-you-need-to-know-about-plastic-pellets\/\">granules<\/a> or powder during the regeneration stage. This step involves heating the ground PP in a high temperature oven to melt it. The plastic melts, filters and is then extruded into granules or powder, and cooled.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400; color: #7cc68d;\">Manufacturing of new products<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Quality control is established to check the quality of the material obtained and its properties (color, grade, density, tension modulus, degree of pollution, impact resistance, etc.).
